 DAVID WOESTHAUS- Art

JIM BEINE- Photography

Overview

Art is a universal and basic language. No society exists that does not create some form of art.  The inclination to express oneself visually begins early. Its subsequent development is fundamental for every person and essential for society.

The art department's curriculum is comprised of a series of elective courses designed to broaden the students' awareness and skills in technical and aesthetic areas in the visual arts. There are two main classifications of the art curriculum at Althoff. The first is the two dimensional area. This area includes: photography, drawing, painting, and printmaking. The other classification is the three dimensional area which includes sculpture and ceramics. New students entering Althoff may sign up for Art 1 or Photo 1. The three dimensional areas are in the Art 2and advanced curriculums. Students wishing to explore these areas must first successfully complete Art 1.

List of pieces for projects in art two and advanced ceramics/sculpture.

Works may be hand built or wheel thrown

These works are graded by quality of form and skill in craftsmanship. All works must have names and have finished bottoms to be considered for a grade. All works assume a unified theme and or design.

ART 2 needs 4 projects a ¼

ADVANCED needs 5 projects a ¼

Some sculptures count as two projects. This is at my discretion.
