Catalpa Tree
(Catalpa bignonioides)

Tree Description

A spreading tree. This particular specimen had been cut at the trunk a number of times and has grown with multiple trunks.   

Leaf Description

• Leaf Texture is pubescent on the under side
  
• Leaf Arrangement is opposite or whorled
• Leaf Margin is entire
• Leaf Venation is pinnate
• Leaf Division is simple
• Leaf Attachment is Petiolate
• Leaf Shape is triangular to heart shape

Bark Description
       
The bark has a reddish gray color and has shallow irregular fissures

Flower Description

                
The flowers are showy, white with purple streaks.  They grow in upright clusters.

Fruit Description 

The fruit is a cigar-like capsule.
