 Tree Description


The White Oak has widespreading branches along with a rounded crown. The trunk is rather irregular. It is about 1.0 - 1.4m. in diameter. It divides into horizontal, stout branches. It is usually a rather large tree, but still only mid- sized compared to some. The White Oak is between 60 - 100ft in height and about 50 - 90 feet in width from one branch to the other.

Bark   

 Bark Description
       

Shallowly fissured into long plates that are scaly. The bark is fairly thin and light. It is an ash gray color and covered with loose scales.


Twig and Bud Description

                
When the White Oak is matured it will produce thousands of acorns. The acorns are about 1 - 3 cm long. They are shaped like an egg. They are enclosed by a shallow cup. The acorn will turn brown when fully developed.
