College Placement

The College Placement Department is an integral part of the total school program.  Counselors aid the students in the decisions to be made and the responsibilities to be met during and after high school.

Counselors schedule appointmens with students throughout the year, but students are also encouraged to request an appointment whenever they need additional help.

Services Offered:

College and Technical School Information

Available in general and individual catalogs and through representatives who visit Althoff during the year on school days. Visits of representatives from various colleges and universities are announced in advance.


Counseling

Available either individually or in group sessions according to the specific need of the student. Where necessary or helpful, counselors refer the student to some other appropriate agency.


Course Recommendations

Based on the student's ability, performance and career plans, the Counselor will help the student plan a schedule of courses to be taken.


Orientation

Group or individual sessions are provided to acquaint new students with the school and its program of study.


Standardized Testing

The counselors can provide testing especially in the area of career planning. The counselor also provides information and interpretation to students regarding the ACT test, which is taken by juniors and seniors planning to attend college. Althoff Catholic is a national test center for the administration of the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and of the American College Testing Program (ACT).
