The advanced honors painting class, (1818 painting) was presented with the opportunity to create a crucifixion mural for the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.

The mural measures five feet by fifteen feet. The canvases three each five feet square will be hung in what the shrine refers to as the Easter egg room.

In the work you will see students from the class posing as the holy participants. The photos show the beginning of the canvases being prepared, through the stages of the  painting developments. At this time the painting is eight days into the project. The work must be completed and delivered by March 12th. Look for further updates soon.
