The Drafting Department offers two courses to those students
interested in the drafting or engineering field. These courses give a
sound introduction into types of courses to be met at the college level. Mechanical
Drawing and Architectural Drawing also have a practical use in everyday dealings
with mechanical devices and house projects.
- 824MDRAW MECHANICAL DRAWING
(All) All
Year 1
credit
Prerequisite:
NONE.
This course
begins by teaching the basics of drawing and the use of instruments. It
then develops the various types of part representation that is used by designers
to convey their ideas to the machinists.
Student
Activities: Daily drawings to be completed in class. Periodically,
there will be special drawings on large 11 x 17 tracing paper. These
special drawings will be run through the blueprint machine and graded for
the quality of the print. Each student will spend much time learning
AutoCAD. The course ends with a large detail and assembly project
of which we make blueprints which display much of the information learned
throughout the year.
Student
Evaluation: Blueprint quality, section quizzes, test drawings, and
AutoCAD work.
- 826ARCHD ARCHITECTURAL
DRAWING (Sophs, Jrs, Srs) All
Year 1
credit
Prerequisite:
NONE.
This course
begins with a complete introduction to basic drawing skills and use of instruments.
Then the course takes the students from basic floor plan drawing through
more technical design such as dimensional electrical layout, solar energy,
and exterior perspectives and elevations, and finally ends with complete
design work of their own.
