Rotary Interact Club

    ACHS CRUSADER CHAPTER

    Founded 1997
(sponsored by St. Clair County-West Rotary)
    "Service Above Self"

        Moderator: Mr. Greg Leib

        PURPOSE:

      • To provide an opportunity to acquire leadership skills
      • To improve local and larger communities through service projects
      • To promote better relationships between all people through friendship and service

        ACTIVITIES:

      • Plan, organize and execute three service projects per year, one each in school, local and international communities
      • Work in conjunction with our sponsoring Rotary group at meetings and on projects and programs, as needed
      • Past activities/projects include:  fundraising in excess of $1000 and collection of school supplies for Mission Honduras; planting at the mini-park in West Belleville; fundraising for local family displaced by a home fire; buying benches for the Althoff quad and gym area; designing and building a roadside memorial for Becky Martinez, an Althoff student killed in a car accident; assistance with the Boy Scouts' food drive and participation in Belleville clean up days.  Also, several members are selected each year to participate in RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) training at workshops held in southern Illinois.

        GUIDELINES FOR MEMBERSHIP

      • Teachers are asked to nominate students for membership in the fall.  Last year, there were 56 members from all grades.
      • Interact is looking for HARD WORKERS.  We are a service organization and there is always a lot to do.  (We sponsor several fundraising activities each year to finance our work.)  Members are asked to attend monthly organizational meetings as well as to participate in the work of subcommittees.
