The yearbook is an integral piece of any high school. A yearbook is a public relations tool that leaves a lasting impression on the school community and the community-at-large. The yearbook staff is responsible for publication of a quality book which equates to running a small journalism business.

The staff is organized into four functional groups

Business/PR Staff - members sell ads to businesses in the community and to senior families, promote and track book sales, maintain the income statement, and perform other business related functions.

Photography - members take photos reflecting student life at ACHS and coordinate with the professional photography firm. This often requires commitment outside of school hours and off school premises. They also maintain the file of photos taken and developed.

Layout - members design and create 200+ pages which make up our yearbook, which includes selecting photos, writing copy (stories) and photo captions. This requires students to establish relationships with coaches, club advisors, and others to develop the facts essential to effective reporting.

Computer Staff - members use Elitevision and PhotoShop software to develop the pages created by the layout staff.

All positions require attention to detail and the ability to meet established deadlines. Staff members will meet on the Wednesdays when there are no faculty meetings at 8:00 a.m.. They are also required to come to a meeting on Tuesdays at 3:15 or Friday mornings at 7:30. Staff members may have to attend additional work sessions near deadline times. Yearbook staff members can earn half of an an elective credit for their contribution.

Yearbook staff members are primarily recruited during the spring for the following year. Interestedstudents are encouraged to share their interest with Mrs. Karen Foeller or Mrs. Luann Toennies, yearbook co-advisors. The recruiting process includes completion of an application and securing two teacher recommendations. Limit: 30 staffers.
